Project Description
IMPROVE (2021-2023)
IMPROVE is a project that has been funded by the Erasmus+ program (No. 2021-1-ES01-KA220-SCH-000027786) through SEPIE (Spanish Service for the Internationalization of Education). The main objective is to increase interest in reading among young people by using innovative teaching methods and encouraging students’ desire to read. XUL Foundation is the project coordinator and works with seven other beneficiaries: Seneca School (Spain), Smart Idea (Slovenia), Jumpin Hub (Portugal), InCo (Italy), CODEC (Belgium), Cebder (Turkey) and 7 Marsi (Macedonia).
The project will also involve different secondary schools, both teachers and students to implement the results of the project. In addition, training will be provided for teachers to help them promote reading among their students with innovative tools.
During the 24 months of the project, several international meetings will be held to discuss the results obtained. One of the meetings will be held in Cordoba, where all the partner countries will be present.
The activities planned include:
- A manual of good practices. The purpose of this manual is to involve students in reading by applying good practices in schools.
- A pack of multimedia tools for educational centers. The purpose of this activity is to promote participation campaigns in book reading by students. The intention is to involve students as promoters and developers of the campaign.
- Trainings for teachers. This action is intended to involve teachers and provide them with innovative tools to attract young people’s interest in reading. The teacher training method is an effective way for teachers to address low reading achievement, providing effective tools to improve or learn techniques to help them in their teaching profession.
- Policy recommendations for local governments. This document will provide decision-making in all partner countries with suggestions for implementing new standards in school curriculums to improve reading skills and address low reading achievement.
In addition to these activities, a multiplier event will be held at the end of the project to present the results, being an activity that encompasses all the phases of the project to show the attending public, in a theoretical-practical way, everything that has been done during the two years of the project.

The project “Improve Preventing low reading interest application” is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union.
