Fundación XUL is pleased to announce the start of the project EcoEd – Youth Leading the Green Shift, an initiative funded by the Erasmus+ programme (KA220-SCH). The project, which will take place between November 2025 and October 2027, has the primary mission of strengthening energy and climate literacy among young Europeans.

Strategic Framework

The EcoEd project arises in response to the need to equip new generations with the necessary competences to face the current climate crisis. Through action-oriented educational methodologies, the programme empowers secondary education students (15 to 18 years old) to act as informed agents of change in the fields of sustainability and energy efficiency.

Core Objectives

The consortium will work under a roadmap centered on the following pillars:

  • Student empowerment: Development of critical knowledge and skills for climate change mitigation.

  • Teacher specialization: Training educators in innovative methodologies to integrate sustainability into the academic curriculum.

  • Innovation in resources: Creation of pedagogical materials and active learning methodologies.

  • Educational digitalization: Implementation of an Open Educational Resources (OER) platform specialized in climate education.

  • Community Impact: Fostering social awareness and citizen participation regarding the energy transition.

Project Structure (Work Packages)

To ensure the achievement of the objectives, the execution is divided into the following work packages:

  • WP2: Development of a methodological manual and didactic materials for the classroom.

  • WP3: Training programmes for educators and interactive workshops aimed at students.

  • WP4: Implementation of the EcoEd OER digital platform on energy literacy.

  • WP5: Dissemination strategy, community engagement, and awareness campaigns on a European scale.

Transnational Consortium

Under the coordination of the Agrupamento de Escolas de Águas Santas (AESCAS) from Portugal, the project brings together a panel of experts from various disciplines and countries:

  • Portugal: Agrupamento de Escolas de Águas Santas (Coordinator) and VIBE MADEIRA.

  • Spain: Fundación XUL.

  • Slovenia: University of Maribor and LIFE4YOU Tjasa Ramšak s.p.

  • Finland: University of Jyväskylä.

  • Cyprus: SIRA Impact HUB.
